After BMT, I got posted to Artillery Institute as a gunnery assistant. Its a 2 month course, and basically we'll be split into two specializations after the 6th week. 90% will end up to be liaison, and 10% will be going to field artillery (FA). Its pretty damned annoying. Basically if you're posted to liaison, you're pretty much back to infantry. We're basically the assistant for the forward observer. Basically we'll walk and end up a few kilometers away from the enemy, and looking for targets to strike. Yeah, pure bullshit. Most of what we do is pretty much in the Wiki anyway. Working in a small group, calling for fire, etc. Doubt we get to sit in a vehicle though. Singapore's technology and equipment is still way below that of the US. Lol.

Whereas those who go to FA gets to sit in the battery command post (BCP), operating a laptop to input all the necessary data the gun needs for it to hit its target accurately. Gah.

All I can do is hope and pray I get into FA.

Well, four weeks of the course has passed and gone. Honestly, I want the course to be longer. Life is good in here. There's a lot of freedom, there's no need to rush around to places, the facilities are good because the building is only 2 years old. There's about 4 hours of free time every night, and I wake up about 40 minutes later than I did in BMT. All we do for 85% of the week is sit in an air-conditioned room having either lectures, or using the computer. That's the benefit of going to a vocation that needs your brain more than your brawn.

But that might all change if I end up going to liaison.
