Currently I have nothing much to play, and I'm feeling rather bored. I've completed Company of Heroes long ago and there's nothing much to do in that game anymore. My skill in Company of Heroes has also reached my maximum, and I have nothing much to aim for. Same for Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War - Dark Crusade. Campaigns done, skill is not bad.

As for Rakion, people in South-East Asia have all migrated their Softnyx accounts to Mobius now. Not possible to stay in Softnyx because they force you to migrate by checking your IP, which tells the location where you are from. Meh, actually its possible. Just change the IP address. Anyway, Mobius isn't as bad as what other people have been saying and complaining about. Its true that the versions are slower, maybe 1 or 2 versions slower. Not like what I said before about 10 versions slower. Mobius doesn't communicate to the players through the main website, but through their forums. Don't really like that way though. The only problems with Mobius is the time it takes to log in and enter the inventory. Once in a while it will stay at the "logging in" or "entering inventory" screen for about 1-2 minutes. Not a bad or devastating problem anyway.

I just went to Semakau Landfill today. Took a boat from the southern top of Singapore all the way down. The trip generally wasn't very interesting, though its good to see how landfills are operated and how they work. Some people kept taking some sort of plant which had these sharp thorns on them, and they hit people with them. A while later I discovered that there were 3 of those plants on my socks. I guess they got dispersed by clinging on to things. They're sharp and I pricked myself trying to pluck them out. No blood though.

Oh yes I forgot, I just wanted to say that I got 40/50 for my first comprehension test. =) Muahahahahaha. Ownage, pure ownage.

Well, so it took 1 whole week for the laptop to be repaired. Apparently the cooling fan of the laptop got spoilt, and when that happens, the laptop will cut power supply so as to prevent further damage. Good mechanism, the parts like the motherboard and graphics card won't get burnt. The people at Acer also said they took longer than usual to fix the laptop because Chinese New Year is approaching and there is little workers.

Anyway, I didn't miss much while I was away from the virtual world. Company of Heroes patch 1.5 came out the same day I got back my laptop. That was good. I got bad news for Rakion though. South-East Asian countries are not going to play Rakion under Softnyx anymore, so they're all going to change company and server, to Mobius. Now the problem with Mobius is that they are over 10 versions slower than Softnyx, the hacks aren't patched as quickly, and there's seemingly more lag from what I have heard. The Softnyx to Mobius patch didn't work, the game started then it crashed back to Windows. So I'm now currently downloading the Mobius version.

Anyway, my interest in Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War has grown, so I've made a signature. Here it is.

I have to say it looks pretty interesting, I find it pretty mystical. My style has always been the same, but I really don't know how to make a different style.

I got Battle for Middle-Earth, but the game can't be installed because the file AmbientStreams.big can't be transferred. Looked for answers on the forums and apparently its a problem with the CD, people who said they have this problem got the problem fixed by getting a new copy. I guess Samuel spoilt the disk.

On Monday my laptop died. If it ran on the power from the switch directly, the laptop would black out after 5 to 10 minutes. The way it blacked out is exactly the same as what would happen if you off the main power supply to the laptop. However, if I charge the battery and use the battery only, the laptop would be able to run normally. However the power only lasts about 40 minutes and after that I will have to off the laptop and wait for about 90 minutes for the battery to charge fully again.

Anyway, I've also started to show signs of misery. On Tuesday I had a headache. On Wednesday I also had a headache. Later that week on Saturday I had another headache, and my nose went crazy by discharging mucus like a tap. Never did I ever have 3 headaches in a week. On the first 2 days that I did not have my laptop, I spent my time just wandering around the house, doing my homework at a really slow pace. Anyway, the laptop got sent to the people at Acer to find the problem. My Mom thinks I burned the laptop because I'm playing really heavy games which consume a lot of CPU power, usually 5 hours each day.

I'm currently using the other computer to type this, but this computer has a really bad graphics card so I don't bother playing anything on it. The 21 inch monitor on this computer is pretty cool though, though it makes me feel a little odd because I personally think its a little too big.

Planet Rakion just added a new section called the "Rakion Drama" section. Its basically where people just flame each other and cuss at each other. Its really hilarious in there because everyone is scolding each other. There's things about pissing oil and disposable grandmothers. Lol.

Homeworld 2

After playing Warhammer 40,000 and Company of Heroes, both made by Relic, I decided to take a look at Homeworld 2, another of Relic's games. Reading around, Homeworld seemed to be a good game. It had reviews almost always above 9/10, and Homeworld won the game of the year in 1999. Reading the review about Homeworld 2, the reviewer said that Homeworld 2 was no different from Homeworld 1, except improvements in graphics, sound, and difficultly in playing the game. So I assumed that Homeworld 2 would be as good, if not, better than Homeworld 1. Therefore, I went to get the game.

Homeworld 2 is a game based in the future, with space combat and hyperfielding across galaxies and space. The battles here are somewhat similar to the battles you would see in the space battles in Star Wars: Empire at war. In fact, playing this game feels quite a lot like playing Star Wars. The graphics are satisfactory, but not spectacular. Same for the sound.

What made Homeworld such a well-reputed game is its gameplay. Reviewers everywhere all commented about this same thing. However, I don’t see what is so great about the gameplay of Homeworld 2. The use of tactics and environment advantages were little, and what one would most likely find yourself doing is just collecting resources, then spamming the most effective units and attack. This repetitiveness reminds me of when I played Battle for Middle-Earth 2. I did the exact same thing, collecting resources, then spamming the most effective units and attack. This eventually led to very boring gameplay, using and doing the same thing over and over again. This, killed my interest for playing Homeworld 2.

Its goodbye for Homeworld 2. Not a good game, in my opinion.

Homeworld 2 Trailer (2:31)

Graphics: 8
Sound: 8
Gameplay: 6
Lasting appeal: 6
Overall: 7
