For the lulz.

Well, technically I think that I do have stuff to blog about, but I think I'll leave that for another day, because I don't really feel like blogging right now. Twitter makes a blogger a really lazy and spoilt person.

Tuesday, October 20, 2009

15 October 2009 was the last day of school. Not just any normal end of school thing, but it was really the last day. I'm not really going to count the days that I have examinations in school, since the usual routines of school doesn't exist there, so its not really school, even though it is.

Now, why isn't this end of school any normal end? After that day, I'm never going to have to go for assemblies, I'm never going to be put in a class with people for many years, I'm never going to be forced to wear a uniform again, I'm never going to have to be forced to sing the Nation Anthem or the pledge ever again (well techincally I do, but that's not the point), and there's many other "I'm never going to..." that I can't think of right now.

It feels weird, really. I've been longing for this day to come for a while now, but when its here, it feels as if nothing has really changed for the better. Maybe its because I still haven't got the most stressful and tiring event out of the way yet, or maybe its because I know that I'm not going to have a life for the next two years after this. Even then, it somehow feels as if those two reasons aren't the real reasons why I'm feeling this way.

Sometimes when I look back, I think of the funny and happy moments I had with my class. I never really had such moments in Secondary school (other than with one or two friends, who aren't even in my class), and while I had such moments in Primary school, it was mainly concentrated in just one year, and it was a fleeting experience. Besides, 90% of people in Primary school follow you to Secondary school, so the act of leaving didn't have much of an impact. However, I had much of those moments in Junior College. I don't think I can confidently say that I have made really strong friendships in JC, but it somehow provided me a way to act like who I want to act, which a person only does in front of friends. I make random jokes, do random things, and let my evil side be seen to certain classmates once in a while. Not everyone sees me as that "quiet goody boy that we should all ignore and pretend he is not there". Then there's the times where the class just likes to go crazy once in a while, and the teachers will just start to comment that we've been studying too hard, and that we've all gone crazy.

Its also in these two years that I've been able to talk to everyone in the class without any hard feelings. There are no animosities in the class, unlike my Secondary school days. Everyone in the class gets along well with one another. Its one of the first times where I feel that my existence is actually felt, rather than in Secondary school where I can disappear without anyone realising that I'm not even there. People now notice me, and talk to me. Its also the time where people start to become less of an idiot, due to the simple reason that we're all 17-18 year olds that are sensitive to the people around us. All of us know the limits to the pranks we play, and we don't break out in sudden fights have petty issues.

Its also the time where my birthday actually got celebrated by the whole class, both times. Okay fine, such celebrations are triggered by one or two people in the class, but still, having the whole class celebrate it is meaningful. I've got a birthday card that's manually designed, with notes from most of the people in class in it, for my 17th birthday. I've got a birthday cake slice with a candle to blow out, as well as a birthday song for my 18th birthday.

Maybe I have to attribute some credit to the AC culture. I think because of it, we're a lot more westernised than most Singapore schools out there, allowing me to fit in very snugly. The Christian theme also played a part, since I didn't have to break the usual worship and devotion cycles I've been having since Primary 1. God always brings hope too.

With such good times that I've had, regardless of the rants and multiple posts I've made in the past complaining about how horrid my life in JC is (which is, mainly about a few particular teachers, as well as the workload), I find it depressing to have such a life ending so soon. Looking forward, I don't really see such interesting things coming at all. I'm going to be joining a lot of uncivilised guys for the next two years of my life, a place where some crude language is going to be the expected norm. After that, I'll be going to university. If I go to one of the local universities, I won't be getting a class of my own. According to my Physics teacher, we just go for our lectures, and we meet whoever fate allows us to meet. No longer is there going to be a bond that is forged between large groups of people. If I go to Digipen, maybe I'll be in a class since the intake is a lot smaller, in the mere hundreds.

After that, I'm going into the horrors of the working world. Deadlines, bills, office drama, and immense boredom. I don't know whether I'll really be going into the video game industry, or even if I do, whether it'll be more fun than the other office jobs. No longer can I come home in the afternoon. Becoming all rowdy and random is most likely going to be frowned upon in the workplace, especially since you're a grown man (again, maybe it'll be fine in the video game industry, depending on the company).

Honestly, all I'm really doing is just speculation. Currently, what I have in my mind for the working world is one where we're all stuck in our individual cubicles, doing our own work. There is little interaction between colleagues, and we all seem to be mere cogs in a machine. Its going to be a cutthoat bitch world out there, and I don't want to enter it.

To minimise the horrors, I need to get into the video game industry. Lol. I don't think I can survive in a world where we all just mind our own business.

Then there's the physical deterioration of the human body. After this age, we begin to peak at our health. And what's after the peak? A downward spiral. Our bones start weakening, our immune system isn't as strong as it used to be, our blood vessels start to get clogged up, and all sorts of other crap starts to become a likely possibility whenever something feels wrong with your body.

Many people say that one's life in JC is the best two years of your life. I've had a good two years, but no, I do not wish that those two years are my best two years of my life. If it is, my future is going to be very bleak. I haven't lived my JC life to the fullest, one of the biggest failures being my CCA. Tech Council felt like secondary school all over again. It was agnonising to be in there. Ignored, deprived of activity, being with a bunch of boring people who don't seem to be able to bring life in the area.

If you ask me, 17 is the best age to be. You're at the prime of your youth, and too young to get into any real legal trouble. You feel like you're on top of the world at this age.

Like how almost every speech in AC has to end,
To God be the glory, the best is yet to be.

Adventures Through Azeroth!

Anyway, I've decided to put up some pictures of my journey through Azeroth (WoW). Enjoy.

This one is a picture of  me mounting on Anzu while being transformed into a bat with a Halloween wand. I'm not sure if this is supposed to happen in retail, but here you go, its funny and interesting.

This one is the same situation as above, just that I'm on the Magnificent Flying Carpet.

Here's another one, on the Swift Zulian Tiger

Ever seen dragons in Thunder Bluff? Well, here you go.

Look, a reindeer. Should be from Preserved Holly.

White figures. Oh noes.

Guess where. I'll give you a hint. I saw this while looking for the Time-Lost Proto-Drake. Indeed, I lost some time doing that.

We were getting ready to do Patchwerk, when one person started to use focusing lens on him. Then, everyone seemed to have one, and many, many, many, beams started appearing.

I was questing on my Horde Death Knight in the northern section of Howling Fjord when these voices starting to talk to me. It was kind of cool and spooky at the same time. A quick Google of these voices revealed that these voices came from the Old Gods.

Well, here it is. This is my latest UI that I'm using for WoW, complete with LFM for raids and drama from global. I think I can classify my UI's into three phases. The first phase (and possibly everyone's first phase) is the original UI, with little addons used. The first phase can also include bits and pieces of important addons such as quest helpers and map addons. My second phase of UI changes is above, the one with the white figure. Largely still rather unchanged in terms of visual interface, with many functional addons and minor visual addons being the new changes. These included Xperl, Sexymap, Bagnon (not seen), and damage meters. The chat addon (Prat) was a rather late addition to the second phase. The third phase of my UI is this one, the newest one. Its a rather major overhaul, and it actually started with me trying out SpartanUI. I didn't really like SpartanUI, since it was, well, a little too spartan for me. The chat seemed to be really messy with it as well. However, after getting rid of SpartanUI, my UI still wasn't what it used to be. Apparently, the addon Bartender was still being used, and I was already rather sick of fiddling with the addon disaster I just went through. So, I decided to stick with Bartender, and here I am, with this UI.

Its been a really long time since I blogged about my life. The last time I did that was on 7 September, with the exception of my preliminary examinations results. Speaking of which, I would most likely be able to enter many universities found overseas if I asked for my projected grades. It'll most likely end up something like AAAAA or AAAAB, if every grade is pushed up by two. Sometimes I wonder if its something I should take advantage of, since I doubt I'll really get that kind of grades eventually.

Anyway, while quite a lot of what I would want to say is already on Twitter, I think I'll just want to focus one a few stuff, especially those that I can't talk about in detail on Twitter.

I've completed Warriors Orochi 2 and Need For Speed: Shift on the PSP. Warriors Orochi 2 isn't very much different from Warriors Orochi 1, other than a few new characters here and there, as well as a continuation of the storyline. Its still the good old hack and slash that its loved for.

Need For Speed: Shift on the PSP was a disappointment. Interestingly though, Digital Life (random IT newspaper in Singapore) gave it a 9/10 for the PS3 and Xbox 360 consoles. I noticed that quite a lot of features found in those consoles aren't found at all in the PSP, so that'll explain the difference in my reaction and the reviewer's. The PSP version was a mere progression of races, unlocking race after race, car after car. Other than that, it was just a normal, bland racer. I give the PSP version a 6/10.

I'm currently playing Dissidia: Final Fantasy on the PSP. Apparently, its about two gods, Chaos and Cosmos, who have somehow been engaged in a war. So, Chaos is now winning, and its up to the ten heroes following Cosmos to save the world by obtaining ten crystals. These ten heroes are the main characters of all the Final Fantasy games from 1 to 10, so it really gives me an idea of who these people are, their personality, and how they fight. So far, its a rather good game, and I'm thankful for that because there has been a draught of good PSP games lately.

Today was the second last day of school, tomorrow being the Baccalaureate service. To be honest, it didn't even feel like school was ending, compared to when I was in Secondary 4. Few pictures were taken, teachers went on like its any normal day. Comparing this with what happened in Secondary 4, its like Antarctica and the Sahara Desert. Two complete opposites. Let's see what happened in Secondary 4. We got souvenirs from all teachers that taught us (except one), and those souvenirs ranged from personal notes to gifts to sweets. Pictures were also taken with every single teacher that walked in on the last day. Maybe I'm overreacting. Maybe it'll all come tomorrow. But from the looks of it, no. And gosh, I look like crap in the class photos.

I really want to make a shaman and warlock in WoW. Damn these exams.

Well, have you found your marbles?
