I'm moving there. I feel that Blogger is not keeping up with the times, and that its functionality is very limited.

Updates stopped for this blog. Last post 20 August 2013.

I've finally completed Patapon. I got stuck on the last mission for like 3 months. Lol. It was that long not because I took that long to practice/get stronger, but because I just got pissed and left it there. Anyway, its a great game and its one of those games you should get if you have a PSP. Anyway, the PSP scene seems to be finally picking up, with Little Big Planet, Assassin's Creed and possibly God of War 2 coming soon.

I've also completed Star Ocean: First Departure. Its an RPG game with a great storyline. That's all I'll say.

Anyway, I'm now reading the ACJC blog, and someone made a few random people write their greatest childhood fears, as well as write about the seven sins they think they'll be most susceptible to. Here are the pictures of the pages. You will need to zoom in.
Childhood Fears: flickr.com/photos/...504/
Seven Sins: flickr.com/photos/...427/

Some funny crap in there.

Apparently this quote popped up on another post:
"Don’t fear failure so much that you refuse to try new things. The saddest summary of a life contains three descriptions: could have, might have, and should have." -Louis E. Boone

Oddly it is almost like what I blogged about in the previous post.

Another thing from the ACJC Blog:

Yesterday was the crappy annual cross-country. Yeah I ranted about how we have to go all the way to Bishan Park. Anyway, I amazingly had some fun there. While we watched the competitive runners run past us, I said "hi" to random people I don't even know. Lol. Then the Milo truck was kind of near the finish line, so I ran towards the finish line screaming "Miloooooooo". Geez, if you didn't see me doing that, I'd bet you wouldn't even believe I would do such a thing. Also, the roads were parallel so we could cut across again.

So before the run began, the Principal prayed for clouds. We got a flood instead. Anyway, I think every single person who was there got wet from head to toe. Hair to shoes. Freakin' lightning was pretty damn near. Lightning and thunder came as the same time, and I smelled the smell of something burning. It was freaky enough to smell the destruction of lightning. Had to cross the road to the HDB blocks, and at the curbs, the water was ankle deep. Then the teacher stood in the middle of the road with his hand up, like how Neo stops bullets.

I squeezed water out of my socks 4 times. The shoe is like some sponge, everytime you wear back your shoes with your socks and stomp around, the socks soak up all the water from the shoe. Anyway when I came back, I put my shoes behind my laptop, with the hole of the shoe facing where the holes of the laptop fan is. Hot dry air blowing my shoes. Worked well.
----------------------------------------
I went back to Tech Council today too. I have to say its a great decision. Back to familiar people, back to familiar atmospheres, and back to familiar work. Well actually, this time there's actually work, and I'm actually glad that there's work. There's a 2 hour 40 minute gap between my last lesson and Tech Council, but I can do a pretty good amount of work during that time. Gives me some free time during the weekends to chill out.

I read an article some time ago, I think in the Time Magazine. It said something about how saying "yes" to things usually results to better results and life satisfaction than saying "no". The write said he eventually ended up doing lots of things he didn't really want to, like travelling across half the globe, and buying some expensive stuff he didn't want to buy. But in the end, he said he felt a lot happier and his life became more fulfilling. He got a good job, a happy family and stuff.

The part that really convinced me is about what he Googled. He Googled something along the lines of "I wish I had said no", as well as "I wish I had said yes". The results for the former brought up regrets that were a lot stronger, and had more search results. The latter came up with regrets that were very minor and negligible, and there were less of such regrets.

After I read that, I actually am trying to apply such a principle into my life. If I feel like doing something, just do it. If you think about it, what really bad can happen to you if you just try it? If you happen to not like it after that one time that you tried, then just stop, simple as that.

But if we decide to say no, there is a possible chance that we could have missed out something that could have really interested us, or could have given us a sense of achievement or fulfilment.

So, I'm glad I said yes to going to both Spectra and Tech Council. Going to Spectra enabled me to compare and see how Tech Council is really the better one for me, and Spectra is just bullcrap. Going back to Tech Council allowed me to see that it is really getting better, and staying back for such a long time isn't really as bad as what I thought.

I wish I had read that article earlier. Wasted my J1 life I feel. Maybe that's why I did what I did during Cross Country. Have fun. As much as it sucks, don't spend your life moping around. You'll regret it one day.
--------------------------------------------
Oh look what I just read on the Scapegaming Forums:
"Peyton -- OK to put a wrap on all these rumors going around about someone famous playing on our servers.... The guessing is getting out of control. I will tell you, yes, someone who is extremely well known is playing here, no I will not tell you who it is under any circumstances. If you ask me about it, i will ban you. We actually have a couple. One is an actor and just doesn't have time to put into retail. I would guarantee you that 90% of the people on these servers would know him... that is why his privacy is so important. Geez you guys, you are jumping all over this one, we have about 3 guys from a famous band also that play here.... we aren't that uncool that people don't want to hang out with us ya know".

Scapegaming is a WoW private server by the way.

Well, now that I understand why Singapore needs such laws, it doesn't mean that I don't find Singapore a floating tard anymore. I still do.

My damn torrents are screwing up. I bet its the new router. Crappy piece of plastic with a firewall that can't be disabled. Download speeds never go above 5kb/s. First time in my life my share ratio is above 2. Errrgh.

I dread going to Spectra. Don't like the people. My Secondary school class had better people.

Battlefield Heroes is pretty fun. Too bad the lag is kind of bad so I can't play a sniper. They need some Oceanic servers, though it won't happen unless the amount of money they get from the cash shop is retarded enough.

I wonder if Tuneup Utilities even does anything. Been using it since 2007 and I don't really see any difference.

Opera > Firefox. Yeah, kill me now.

Damn the Cross Country on Wednesday. Bloody waste of time. WTF they make us go all the way to Bishan Park for? So school ends at 6pm for the two days before my Math test. Nice.

I'm still eagerly waiting for WOTLK to come to Scapegaming. Not like I can play it often though. =(

I want Guild Wars 2 too.

Earlier seasons of South Park seem to be much better. A lot better.

A career in the video game industry seems rather scary to have in Singapore. Don't think there'll be enough jobs.

Jogging is a pain in the ass.

Exercising is a pain in the ass as well. Damn NS. Just let me sit down/lie down 23 hours a day like I've been doing for the past 17 years? Yeah, that's my lifestyle. I surprisingly have a nice weight for such a lifestyle.

Chemistry is still crap, and I think it'll forever be crap. Biology and Physics FTW. Putting school subjects and FTW together seems pretty gross.

My laptop is miraculously surviving for almost five years already. Well, the fan died once, but that's it.

Dawn of War II is out and I'm not getting it. EEEERRRGGHH. ZOMGWTF NOOO. Not getting the sequel to my favourite RTS? /wrist.

I want to freakin' start driving.

Ah, blogging in a new way is pretty refreshing. I think its more interesting to you people this way too.

Well, life goes on as usual. Currently now its the test period of term 1. Done with GP and Geography, and Chemistry, Math and GP test 2 is up next.

Anyway, now that I've started to do every single piece of homework I have, I find that I don't really have much time for leisurely activities. The fact that the freaking @$%@ing %$@ ^$@# NS is in one year forces me to go exercise, and that takes up about 1 hour 30 minutes a day for three days a week. I will not waste two months of my life because I'm unfit or whatever crap. So basically, I haven't played any games for a few weeks now, and the only leisure activities I do now is watch South Park (season 4-12 done, I'm watching it backwards), read Breaking Dawn (which I completed about one hour ago), and play with my PSP for those short periods of time where I decide to take a break.

Also I've read the posts about "My Life In Singapore" (at the sidebar) again, and I did add a note to the school culture posts. I guess I'll add it here too. Some of the feelings I had when I typed the posts have either reduced a lot, or are totally non-existent. Mainly it is the feelings for my school, and especially my class where I have stopped to dislike so much. I just grow to like and get used to my class, where everyone is so nice and friendly. I don't feel that bad already. A few things still stand though, which are the "I hate Singapore" post, and my hate for Math and Science.

I don't think my hate for Math and Science will ever diminish. However, I'm starting to see Singapore in a different light, especially after the GP teacher talked about why there is such strict censorship laws and stuff in Singapore. Its true that Singapore has strict censorship laws, but most of us can actually still live happily and relatively freely. We watch shows we want, download stuff off the Internet legally or illegally, walk where we want, and say things we want, as long as its not sensitive. Sure, having even more freedom than that would be nice, but like what the GP teacher said again, would it be good for people to walk around and call people a blackie and stuff like that? Technically in this day and age, nobody really cares if they're called a nigger or blackie. I mean, even the races in Singapore are telling people racist jokes that demean themselves (e.g. Indians telling an Indian racist joke to a Chinese).

Actually that's not really the major point of such lack of free speech. More importantly, Singapore only has its labour and its economy. If that doesn't function properly one way or another, Singapore is dead. And if people started holding speeches and protests wherever and whenever they like like the opposition parties, its going to create a lot of problems for the economy. So, Singapore might be right in creating such retarded laws.

Anyway, according to the laws, I believe I have violated the law already. Besides, this unexpectedly turned into some sort of essay. Not a good sign.

Oh woe to millions of people out there. The Pirate Bay might be in trouble.

Might be a reason why I like this song more and more. My Immortal by Evanescence. Funeral Song? Maybe. Won't be surprised if its used for the New Moon movie. You should see the comments for this video.

Maybe I should give you guys an idea of how I listen to my music. I'm a person who doesn't really go out to look for music. Most people listen to the latest music and that kind of stuff, but I don't bother with that. The only time I like a song/I add a song to my playlist is when I happen to hear the song, and if I like it, then, well, like it. If not, its just another song to me.

So, there isn't really a specific genre of music I like, or a specific artist or that kind of thing. It just comes to me when it wants to.

Am I turning Emo? Got a feeling I am.

Tuesday, February 10, 2009

Well, trying to enjoy my remaining teenage years isn't as easy as I hoped it would be. Life is still boring and dull, and I have a feeling that I'm turning into a person who doesn't mind learning what I'm learning now. My hate for Math is Science is dwindling, though I think that my hate for Chemistry might start to rise even higher. I can't help but make this comparison, but I feel as if I'm like Bella in New Moon (second book in Twilight series) when Edward left her. Empty, bored, nothing seems to be interesting, I'm living my life for what?

So why that change? Honestly, I'm starting to get the hang of Math. So far, I've done all my Math tutorials without fail, with a few questions that I didn't know how to do. Sure, I got 0/15 for my first Math test, but I have to blame that on stupidity. Three marks lost because I didn't realise that the answer was in the bloody formula list, and another six marks lost because I forgot to write du/dx, as well as didn't realise that the next step of methodology is in the question itself.

I've always been alright with Physics. I never really hated Physics actually. A science where you can see everything happening in daily life is a science that is a lot more tolerable.

I've never really understood or liked Chemistry. The knowledge about atoms and chemicals just put me off. Funny dots with lines connected here and there, then you draw arrows from dots to more lines. It just feels so theoretical and fake. The new Chemistry teacher I have now doesn't help my feelings for Chemistry either. The way he teaches is great. Its concise, straightforward and very detailed. But he just keeps giving us all these funny odd questions that seem to be horribly "out-of-the-box". Thank goodness the questions he asks are mostly not in syllabus.

So my class and I went to the Physics introductory lecture today. It was taught by a teacher. Well yeah, duh. Well, I stated that fact because ever since that teacher joined the school last year, the school seems to have increased the amount of game design stuff. During the lecture, she showed a video of someone playing some sort of Super Mario game, and she wanted us to see how Mario could walk around and "under" a planet without falling off. Made me like what I'm studying now even more.

Worse, why does ACJC have to start game design courses only this year? Would have been a great way for me to see what people in the game industry do, and it'll also be a great addition to my portfolio. Even worse, its only available for J1s. Someone's playing a bloody sadistic joke on my life. Agony.

Don't know if I mentioned this before, but my CCA, Tech Council, is trash to me. Well, for the past one year in 2008, I did totally nothing, and learnt totally nothing. Week after week, I go there, stare into space, and surf the net. Eventually, I got pissed. I went to join Spectra this year, and honestly, the first week was rather good. My second Spectra session which ended three hours ago was rather crappy. Apparently we're supposed to hold a welcome tea for J1's next week, and the suggestions just grossed me out. Absolutely abysmal. Lets see, watch anime's and listen to Jap songs? Like WTF? Is this another joke on my life? I leave a crappy CCA to look for greener pastures, and I find a CCA with queer people? Sure, I admit, the pasture is indeed greener here, but I don't think I'll be able to tolerate a bunch of people who draw anime, watch anime, and start jumping up and down and squealing on the sight of who? Kasuke or something? I just Googled it 5 seconds ago and I'm surprised I got that spelling right. Gosh. WHY ME? /wrist. Ugh.

Well, I tell myself: all I really have to do is stick around until June, and I'll be free of this compost heap. Tech Council had better people. If I didn't have to stay back and wait for three hours before Tech Council started, I would have changed back immediately. Maybe I'll go look for another CCA again.

Well the JC1's started school four days ago. Not much difference in my daily life, apart from the incessant screaming and an assortment of people in different uniforms. I am so glad I'm not in orientation. Horrible way to start a school year. Go to the January 2008 archives if you want to know why its so horrible. I think I did talk about why its gross.

Honestly though, the only part that I didn't mind out of orientation is the OG outing, as well as dancing. Yeah, dancing. Dancing is pretty interesting, it feels quite good to dance. Hmm, another revelation. Possibly if I didn't mind having a retarded time schedule, I might be in a CCA that's pretty active. It might be dance, swimming, or maybe even tennis. Playing tennis in Primary school was fun, and swimming... got to love being in the water.

Now on to what I've been doing with my gaming life. Well, I've started playing Lord of the Rings Online, and unfortunately I've only played until level 6. LOTRO allows you to play while you download the game, and so I got cut off at level 6 due to lacking content. So far, these six levels of experience hasn't been anything enthralling, and its rather generic. I have to say its similar to how WoW plays, especially in terms of questing and skills. Animations are very refreshing though, as its been some time since I've seen cool magical effects.

School's back to normal as well. No more introductions, no more free time and stuff. Its full scale lessons. The first test is in a week already, and exams for all subjects are in a month. Oh, what excruciating agony I'm going through! Lol.

I might be going back to the WoW private servers soon, as the public test realms (PTR) are now online. Death Knights have been added to the PTR less than a day ago. Progress looks great on the private server.

Also, my hate for Chemistry is growing rapidly. No idea what the hell I'm learning at all.

Beware... The Brotherhood and the Thieves' Guild are coming...
