Haven't blogged for some time, simply because as usual, there's nothing to talk about.

The cinematic trailer to Dawn of War II just got released. It looks wicked. I've also added a section on the right, showing the games that I'm best at. The game that you're best at is usually also your favourite game. So, figure it out.

Dawn of War II Cinematic Trailer (2:39)

I got invited for the closed beta for Battlefield Heroes (and I have to point out that its made by EA), and I'm here to share my horrible experience.

First, the game is a pain in the ass to launch. I have to launch it from the website using only either Firefox 2 or Internet Explorer. Then a patcher appears, with a blank screen so you have to leave it there and wonder when they'll ask to launch game. The first time you launch it, its to install the game. They'll ask if you want to install the game for "all users" or "only me", and only the "only me" option works. I tried to go to the official forums, and I get error messages from time to time. They can't even make a forum properly?

And here's the epic finale:
When I finally launch it, it hangs at the black screen, then the computer crashes and restarts.

Pretty obviously I'm kind of pissed right now. Does EA always have to screw things up? This are really basic issues and should not even be present in the first place.

Then I tried a second time, hoping its one of those occasional crashes. But it wasn't. This time, I got a blue screen of death.

Don't tell me "its closed beta, you should expect things like that." I'll talk about my other closed beta experience.

I got invited to the closed beta for Darkness and Light (a DoTA copy published by Asiasoft, the game has been taken off). I activated my account for the game, downloaded it, installed it, and for comparisons sake, I have to say, downloading and installing went perfectly.

Then I launched the game, but instead a patcher came up. Ok fine. Its normal. It patched quickly and smoothly, and it even did a check for the files (to make sure its all good to go). Game launched, I went through tutorial, found a room and started playing till my hearts content.

Closed beta. Did I meet a single bug? No. Its worthy for full release.

The bottom line? EA sucks.

Physics teacher asked us one Math question today. Its not those kind of stupid Math questions you often find in worksheets and examinations, so that's cool.

So he asked, is 1=0.99999999999...?

So apparently one person in my class proved that it is correct long ago. Here's his reasoning.

1/3 = 0.333333333...
1/3 times 3 = 1
0.33333333333... times 3 = 0.9999999999...

So since
1/3 times 3 =1 and
1/3 equals to 0.3333...,
1 = 0.9999...

But I have this other way of seeing things, and its more analytical than Mathematical.

If two numbers are equal, then the difference between the two numbers should be 0.
For example, if 1=1, 1-1=0. Or if 10=5x2, then 10-5x2=0. Simple reasoning.

If 1=0.9999... , then 1-0.99999... or 0.99999...-1 should equal to 0. But the answer is 0.000000...1. So 1 is not equal to 0.99999...

Don't tell me that 0.0000000...1 is so small that we should take it as 0. The number of zeros in 0.000000...1 is infinite, with the number 1 always staying there, which makes it a number that isn't zero. I don't care if that number is smaller than the smallest thing on Earth, the fact that there's a 1 somewhere infinitely at the back means it is bigger than 0. I can say the same the other way round. The number of nines in 0.999... is infinite, there is never a 0 that is after the infinite number of 9s so it can't be 1.00000...

And since I can't prove any of them wrong, I'll take it that its unsolvable. I choose to go against the swarm of proofs that 1=0.9999... that's found on the internet until someone proves my theory wrong.
--------
Anyway, I just spent like 1 hour reading about this on the internet. It seems about 90% just accept that they are equal. It also seems that the only proofs are all Mathematical. What happened to simple logic of numbers and space?

Let me show you how my theory is irritatingly disproved.
Pretend this quote is answering my theory.
"If such infinities exist in your number system, you are right.

However, the real numbers are defined to not contain such "Infinite 0.1" and thus, we must replace this with 0, making them equal."

So just because the Mathematicians in the past defined and stated that infinity is undefinable, I have to accept this crap?

Anyway, read if you want. Its the best discussion I've found so far, with balanced viewpoints and few people who just spam the usual proofs (like the 1/3 thing I posted above).

And geez, if Math was like this, I might love it.

Anyway, on to my life.

Went for the 3ds Max animation thing yesterday again. Now I got some screenshots.

The first picture with some random person with random objects scattered around was done last week. The ones with the wine glass was made yesterday. I tried to make something not so ordinary and boring. People say it looks unique. Sure it does.

Its like, really busy now. From being free everyday after 5 or 6pm in the first half of the year, to working all the way till 8pm or so. I don't think its because there's more work now as compared to before, but its because I'm trying to do every single piece of assignment that I need to do.

Anyway, just yesterday I attended some course where we get to learn how to use 3ds Max. Its an animation program. You know, make 3D models from scratch. Its like those programs you see people using when you watch "The Making of (insert animated movie or game here)" videos. Its pretty fun.

And what's up with the gaming scene these few days? Other than the suspenseful games that are going to come from Blizzard (Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3), there are hardly any good games coming out. Sure we had a few good ones like GTA4 and MGS4... wait, I think those are the only good games that have been released this year. Since E3 is coming soon, some pretty good games are being unveiled. Unfortunately, games that are announced during E3 are usually games that will come usually a year later. Let me list a few games that we should look out for.

Gears of War 2
Empire: Total War
Prince of Persia?
Red Alert 3? (EA might be turning this epic into total crap)
Sims 3
Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning
Spore
The Lord of the Rings: Conquest (God of War style gameplay)
Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II

Duke Nukem (been waiting for it for how many years? 10? lol)
Hello Kitty no Panda Sport Stadium (just kidding)

Studied every afternoon for one whole month and I only pass 2 out of 6 subjects. Pfft.

So, here's a breakdown.
GP - 21.5/50
Chinese - 69/160
Physics - 35/65
Chemistry - 28/60
Math - 14/50
Geography - 18/30

I'm not very delighted with Chemistry mainly because I have 8-10 marks (maybe more) worth of careless mistakes and stupid crap. Most likely because its the second paper after Math. Sometimes I want to take Biology instead since Chemistry is pretty useless to me.

Thought I could have done a lot better for Geography. I only remembered I had to put in examples after writing about 3/5 of the essay. /wrist. Anyway, no regrets changing from Economics to Geography. Might be linked to my Mathematically challenged brain.

Math... I'll just say I'm not a very Mathematical person. Sometimes I even wonder if I should really take programming, since a lot of Math is involved.

Chinese is stupid. I write essays that are as good or better than the essays I wrote for Secondary school, and I get 30/60. Then, the passages for the comprehension is practically incomprehensible. Worse still, the questions can't be understood either.

Physics. Hm. No idea why I didn't get higher marks. I need the answers to see what crap I left out.

GP is stupid. I bet the teacher has a problem with my language (marks are given for language). He can insult other people's language and call it a "comic", and I can get lower marks than that person. Heck, he even found a grammatical mistake in a quote I made. Amazing!
