Well, its definitely been a long time since a blogged properly. I've been putting up a few pictures here and there, and making a lot of small comments of what I've been doing or am complaining about on Twitter.
I've only got Physics MCQ left, and then I'm going to be a very free man. I don't really have much of an idea what I'm going to do. I know that I'm going to complete Torchlight (more about that later), change my main character in Magicwow to a shaman, and possibly play a bit of Dungeons and Dragons Online or Runes of Magic. Runes of Magic will be a last resort sort of thing though. I'm definitely not going to be able to play these few games for that long.
So far, the A's have been relatively okay. In my opinion, I think I did all the papers better than my prelims, with the exception of my GP essay, and maybe Geography. Geography was a little weird, in the sense that they asked a lot of funny and unique questions one wouldn't really expect, so I'm not very sure about what would happen there. Overall, even though I can't confidently say that I'll get an A for every single subject, I think I can say that I can get at least a B for everything. Not a bad feeling actually.
Over the past month, quite a lot of things happened with the WoW private server scene. Scapegaming, once the largest and most established private server for WoW, is dead. Well, almost. Peyton, the owner, is getting sued by Blizzard, and apparently she has received over US$1.5 million from donations to the server. I guess all those rumours were true after all. Well, there is still a fragment of Scapegaming left in 2bitgaming, but honestly, they're a lost cause.
So, the next two best private servers in my opinion, MagicWoW and WoWLegacy, have both decided to lay low a bit so that the chance of them being caught by Blizzard will be as low as possible. The MagicWoW server apparently got transferred to Russia, resulting in the website being down for a week or two. The game server still remained up though. Then, just 10 minutes ago, I found out that WoWLegacy and MagicWoW are going to merge. Not "merge" as in being combined into one big server, but the administrators of WoWLegacy are going to be in charge of MagicWoW's day to day activities, and Marcelo, the owner of MagicWoW, actually gave his Frostemu emulator to them in exchange for this. I don't know how this will work out. Marcelo's Frostemu is working like a charm, having a population of over 4000 with absolutely no lag at all. Its also the least buggy server I've ever played in, and fixes are pouring in daily, making me a very happy panda (too bad if you didn't get that). On the other hand, WoWLegacy has a pretty damned buggy server, but I do have to admit that the administrators of WoWLegacy are good people. They care about the community and stuff. Maybe this "merge" will be a change for the better, combining two good things into one. Somehow, I don't really have a good feeling about this.
Torchlight. If you've been following gaming news, you'd most likely have heard about it. Its made by the same people who made Diablo 1 (not all the people), and indeed, it maintains that Diablo feel to it. When I first walked around the main town, the music sounded really familiar. Its very similar to the tune of Tristam, and when I read more about the game online, yes, the sound guy who made Tristam made the music for Torchlight. After going through about 10 levels of dungeons and reaching level 15, the story so far that I can understand is this. You're an adventurer who reached the village of Torchlight, and somehow decided to investigate the source of the taint of ember, which resides in the mines deep below Torchlight (the town is called Torchlight if you haven't realised). About the gameplay, like I said, it maintains the Diablo method of fighting. If you've played Diablo, you'll know how it plays. The graphics are great for a game so simple, and I really think more developers should try making games with such an art style.
Check out the screenshots here if you want to see what I mean about the art style.

Like Diablo, you get to choose 1 of 3 classes to play. The melee guy (Destroyer), the ranged girl (Vanquisher), and the magical dude (Alchemist). I chose the Alchemist, but then I realised that I didn't really have to play a ranged spellcaster. There are 3 skill trees for me to choose from, and the funny thing is, I don't have to add the first skill to get the second. This means I can mix and match any skill I want from any of the three skill trees. Anyway, the three trees are ranged spellcaster, a minion master, and a melee fighter. I'm not really sure how the melee works out for a mage class, but I went with the minion master. The minion master might be a little bit too overpowered, or the game is just naturally easy. Whenever a boss appears, all I really have to do is run around is circles. Literally. I'll win in due time. This kind of takes the kick out of the game, but I'm not complaining. I took average difficulty, and the game is still good anyway.
Damn MagicWoW has been down for over 12 hours now. Its pissing me off. I want to do the glitch to get into Old Ironforge. Rawr. Besides, House isn't downloading fast enough. I've watched 6 episodes today. Would have been 8 or 9 if it was already downloaded.
Think I'll talk about my (or maybe someone else's) shadow priest experience in MagicWoW. Private servers avoid shadow priests like the plague for some reason.
