“I’ve never understood the love for Half Life, particularly Half Life 2. Have tried any number of times to get into it, on both PC and PS3, but just can’t. The mechanics don’t feel right, and the story (that I’ve seen) is always just “Hey, we were going to tell you something important, but now we’re being attacked! Go to point B, perhaps in this awkward vehicle here, and *then* we’ll tell you!”
And then at point B, the same thing happens…”

You know those people who bitch at you all the time because you’re not doing a particular thing? Yep, its those annoying idiots who never seem to disappear. You want to know why I hate my section so much? Its infested with them. 90% of the self-righteous people in my platoon come from my section.

*To give you an idea of what a section and platoon is, 1 company has 4 platoons, which is further divided into 4 sections. Your dealings in the army will revolve mainly around your platoon.

These people never fail to correct your mistakes, ask you to hurry up (even though you’ll just end up waiting for others), and the next thing you know, you see them making mistakes. One of them even corrected me on a mistake while he was doing the mistake. Genius. And when I corrected him back, he continued with his ramblings.

From Urban Dictionary: “Self-righteousness is a way unintelligent and non-athletic people can retain a sense of superiority.”

I know Urban Dictionary isn’t exactly trustworthy, but somehow I can’t help but feel that it’s true. I didn’t have any problems with self-righteous people in ACJC, possibly because the unintelligent weren’t very prominent there, and majority of the people are physically fit. When you step into where I am, where people are mixed up from all spectra of intelligence, and 95% of them failed their NAPFA, my gosh does all hell break loose.

Either way, they’ll never fail to piss you off.

I’m a miserable sod living in the army. I was just reading the usual news that I read each week I come back, and there was this guy who can’t seem to find friends in World of Warcraft. If you’re wondering why I’m having such a miserable time in the army, read the reply by Drama Mama Lisa. I just can’t find “my tribe”. Its been two whole months, and I don’t think that status of “miserable sod” is going to change. There’s only 60 or so people in my platoon, so I believe “my tribe” doesn’t exist in my platoon at all.

What tribes are there though?

- Enthusiastic people who want to go to OCS or SISPEC (about 20 or so people).
- Soccer fans (possibly 45 people).
- Horny idiots who think about girls, clubbing and sex (another 20 or 30).
- People who seem to just talk generally, i.e. day to day activities, what’s to come in the army. This is normal, except when that’s all they do (20).
*Numbers overlap, I’m not an idiot. And for your info, I hate the people who possess the first 3 qualities. Quality number 2 is fine if they don’t overdo it. The others are just simple turnoffs for me.

I swear, that’s it. No hardcore gamers, fine, I can understand and endure that. No one who can just let their hair down about the army activities? Sigh. Its like everyone’s a zealous fanatic who has a never-ending passion for the army. What has Singapore really offered to you? All Singapore ever does is care about the economy and the budget. We’re humans living in a country, not cogs in a machine. Singapore is merely oiling us to keep us spinning. And don't tell me that "at least we're not rusting". The Singapore government earns enough to use the two dollar notes as wallpaper for his house.

I might give the next person who annoys me the finger, or just reply with "shut up recruit".
